We are glad you are here.

Begin your experience of God by surrendering your preconceptions of God - everyone begins here.

Job answered God: "I'm convinced: You can do anything and everything.  Nothing and no one can upset your plans.

You asked, 'Who is this muddying the water, ignorantly confusing the issue, second-guessing my purposes?' I admit it.  I was the one.  I babbled on about things far beyond me, made small talk about wonders way over my head.

You told me, 'Listen, and let me do the talking.  Let me ask the questions.  You give the answers.'  I admit I once lived by rumors of you; now I have it all firsthand - from my own eyes and ears!

I'm sorry - forgive me.  I'll never do that again, I promise!  I'll never again live on crusts of hearsay, crumbs of rumor."

-- The Bible, Job chapter 42

We are convinced: everyone needs "a new God."  Lakeland doesn't have all the answers, but we are convinced God wants to be with us.  Jesus lived out the presence of God among humans just like us.

"Follow me," Jesus said to people, "and I will make you fish for others."  In other words, "surrender to my purpose for how and why to live your life; join me and those with me, and then I will show you how to love the world around you."  Everyone who follows Jesus is changed.  Everyone who follows Jesus changes the lives of others.

If you want to be found by God, first surrender to Jesus, join together with other followers, and love others like Jesus loved people.  Maybe you belong here with us.

PRAYER

Jesus, I am amazed that you should bother about me and love me and want me to be your friend and disciple. I know that there is a lot in my life that needs cleaning up. Please come and do it. I still have lots of questions that bother me, but I lay them all before you in the tangle that they are. I do believe that you went to the cross for me to deal with my guilty past. And I do believe that you are alive again. You invite people to come to you. And I'm coming. I'm coming now. – Michael Green, Who Is This Jesus? p.94
